Jiangsu University (JSU) is ranked among the top 100 universities out of over 2,000 higher educational institutions in China. JSU is one of the oldest educational institutions in China, and its origin can be traced back to 1902 when it was first established as Sanjiang Normal College. JSU was then founded out of the initial college by combining the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (a national key university), Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers’ College with approval from the Ministry of Education, China in August, 2001.

🏫About Jiangsu University (JSU)

Currently, JSU is a teaching, research and community oriented comprehensive institution with emphasis on engineering and allied disciplines. Four disciplines have been ranked as global top 1% in ESI, such as Engineering, Materials Science, Clinical Medicine and Chemistry. According to the Evaluations of China’s Universities in 2015 by China Academy of Management Science, JSU is ranked 55.

JSU enjoys a national reputation of being among the top research based academic institution for engineering sciences with several innovative achievements and patents rights for its achievement and contribution to the economic growth of China and world economy. Other academic disciplines have also witnesses astronomical growth in their research faculty and quality of graduates they turn out yearly. This has continually made the University to enjoy an influx of international students from all continents with resultant increased growth in linkages and exchange programmes with other educational institution around the world. The employment rate of the university’s graduates has been over 95%.

JSU has been entrusted by the United Nations to train many high ranking management personnel and experts in Agricultural Machinery. Since 2005, JSU started to enroll a complete batch of degree learners. Presently, over 1,000 international students from more than 78 countries are studying in JSU. The University internationalization drive has been yielding the desired results through extensive learning and research work.

About OEC

Overseas Education College (OEC), formerly called International Education Exchange College, was formally founded in 2011. As an independent institution, OEC is responsible for International students’ admission, academic affairs, routine administration and organizing Chinese international education. In 2015, the number of foreign students reached 1200; they are from 82 countries of 5 continents and include undergraduate, postgraduate students, as well as language students, advanced students and post-doctors.

During the recent 5 years, OEC continues optimizing resources and enhancing quality. In 2014, OEC designed and started freshmen’s Study Ability Assessment Exam, which aimed to help new students adapt to college study life as soon as possible. Every year OEC organizes internationalized professional teachers or lecturers to take part in national or international training programs.

OEC pays attention to cultural inheritance and therefore organizes foreign students to take part in various activities in and outside university, trying to help foreign students understand Chinese culture and feel the happiness of study in China. The Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race, Singing Talent Competition for Foreigners in Jiangsu Province, New Year’s Long-distance Running in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu University International Cultural Festival, Jiangsu University “Chinese Bridge” Competition etc., all these brand activities receive broad media attention every year. “Universal Hand-in-Hand Association” affiliated to OEC occasionally holds different activities or events which help foreign and Chinese students communicate and build up an internationalized atmosphere on campus.

About Zhenjiang

Zhenjiang is located in the southwest of China, Jiangsu Province. It has a long history, beautiful sceneries and a pleasant weather. Zhenjiang is a famous historic and cultural city in China. The most popular places here are: Jin Mountain, Jiao Mountain and Beigu Mountain, which are along the Yangtze River. The scenery reminds of a magnificent painting of the landscape.

Thousands of years of history can be observed in the Xijin Ferry Street, which delivers a unique style of architecture. It resembles a natural history museum. Compared to cities like Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou, Zhenjiang has a more simple and quiet Chinese flavor, also known as the “Oriental Romantic Town”. Zhenjiang provides a rich offer of Chinese language and culture e.g. if you walk in the “Three mountains”, you will explore “The Tale of the White Snake”, “Goddess Mirage”, fascinating legends as well as lovely poetry and acting.

While living in Zhenjiang, you will have many opportunities to talk to warm-hearted and friendly people in our city and practice your Chinese. Campus

The university covers an area of 203 hectares with teaching and experimental equipment worth 760 million CNY. The library has a floor area of 62,500 m2 with a collection of 2.7 million books and 1.2 millions e-books. The university has 1 national engineering and technology research center, 1 national experiment teaching demonstration center, 2 national pilot zones for talents training pattern innovation. Jiangsu University Press and Jiangsu University Hospital (the A-level hospital) are two major affiliations to the University.

Living in University

International Culture Festival

The OEC holds the ‘International Culture Day’ with over 1200 overseas students from more than 80 countries. The importance of this special day is to fully present the cultures of the different countries and regions across the five continents, bringing the various foreign cultures together on campus. This event offers all the students a great opportunity to understand and learn from different cultures, and also adapt themselves to internationalization of education. Different countries display different historic artifacts, cultural dresses, and historic locations and dressed in their cultural attires. Materials on exhibition included food, native dresses, fabrics, ornament, shoes, jewelries; the wide display served as a form of non-formal education for students to learn appreciate and respect each countries culture.

Joy in Jiangsu

Joy in Jiangsu or “同乐江苏” is an annual talent show competition organized in the Jiangsu province. It provides the foreigners based here with a platform to showcase their abilities in the field of dancing and singing. Each year has been filled with fun, frolic and of course, Jiangsu University’s students.

JSU Sports Meet

Keeping the students’ fit JSU sports meet is a multi-event competition from track and field to most ball sports. OEC team consistently ranked first in track and field events among all the colleges in JSU. OEC team also leads in other sports like football, basketball, volley ball, badminton etc.

Canteens

The University has about 8 general cafeterias and 2 Muslim cafeterias in strategic locations on campus providing hygienic and balance meals at affordable price. The ambiances of these cafeterias are in line with the safest health standards in China and students have a wide range of options to choose from.

🏠 Accommodation

Students Apartments:

There are eight apartment zones, called A-G and Overseas Students' Apartment, which accommodate up to more than 40 thousand students.

Apartment A-G and Overseas Students' Apartment accommodate all undergraduates and postgraduates at home and abroad. Every apartment building is equipped with a coin-operated automatic washing machine and air-conditioning. There are some free services such as needle and thread package, inflating service, micro-wave oven, and hair-dryer, etc.

One-stop service is offered in Overseas Students' Apartment. The information of all sections is provided in both Chinese and English and all reception staff uses English and Mandarin to communicate with them. There are numerous services such as the POS settlement, one-time bill, passenger services to meet guests, message, stationery, mail collecting, price list, and accommodating notice, and tourism services.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to China Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
