📚About the Program

Overview:

The International Education College of CUG accepts international students from all over the world for a full-time language program. The program adopts small-class teaching, with about 20 students in each class. Three levels of courses (primary level, primary-intermediate level, and intermediate level) are offered according to the scores of the Chinese language grouping test. The course length, which is routinely one semester or one school year with 4 class hours each day and 20 per week, can be extended, as appropriate, to no more than 4 semesters. The certificate and transcript will be issued at the end of the studying period.

To encourage students to learn more about Chinese history and culture, the international education college provides optional courses featuring in CUG’s disciplinary characteristics such as “Chinese tourism and intangible cultural heritage”, “Geology and geography in China”, “Multicultural understanding” and “Chinese culture and history”, as well as the language & culture social practice activities such as calligraphy, paper-cutting, tea art, and seal-cutting. Meanwhile, to ensure efficient teaching and learning, the pre-exam training classes of HSK are provided for free, which is flexible for students to choose.

Program features:

  • With the studying period of 1 year, students will not only have a good grasp of spelling & pronunciation of Chinese phonetic alphabet, 1500 commonly-used words and 180 pieces of linguistic knowledge but also be well equipped with abilities to communicate in Chinese, to apply the gained knowledge to solving basic problems in daily life.
  • A series of courses of Chinese language, optional courses themed Chinese culture and linguistics are provided; there are free pre-exam training classes for students and they will surely pass the HSK4 through two terms’ study.
  • Students who perform well during the program will gain a priority in CSC scholarship recommendation.

Overview:

China University of Geosciences (CUG) is a key national university affiliated to the Ministry of Education. CUG is one of the key universities which are authorized by the state to establish Graduate School. It is one of the first group universities listed in the national “211 Project” and the national “Double World-Class Project”. Located along the shore of East Lake and seated at the foot of Mount NanWang, CUG features in a world-class specialization in geosciences, incorporating a wide range of research fields into diverse categories such as Science, Engineering, Literature, Management, Economics, Law, Education, and Art, etc. CUG’s two national primary key disciplines, Geology and Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, are listed in the “Double First-Class Disciplines”. At present, its registered full-time students total 26103, including 18140 undergraduates, 6312 master students,1651 doctoral students, and 1137 international students.

CUG has established 13 centers for post-doctorate studies, 16 first-class doctoral discipline areas, and 33 first-class master’s discipline areas, covering 2 national-level key disciplines and 16 provincial-level key disciplines. CUG offers 10 professional degrees of diverse scopes, such as Master of Engineering (ME) with 14 engineering fields. CUG’s 6 fields, namely, Geosciences, Engineering, Environmental Science / Ecology, Material Science, Chemistry, and Computer Science have been listed in the top 1% global institutions in ESI (Essential Science Indicators), with Geosciences among the top 1‰.

Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to China Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
