• Level 1

  Starting from zero with no Chinese language foundation, you will be introduced to 50 basic Chinese words to your vocabulary. You will become familiar with Chinese Pinyin and their rules. You will have studied and practiced initials, finals, and tones and how that affects your Chinese speaking. You will have gained and understanding of basic Chinese words, phrases and salutation terms to make simple greetings. You will be able to simply introduce yourself and express requests and help. You will learn some basic Chinese character strokes. This is Chinese for beginners, an excellent base for further Mandarin Chinese study.

• Level 2

  Your Chinese vocabulary will consist of up to 200 Chinese words. You will be able to read Chinese pinyin and start to be familiar with basic Chinese characters. You can understand short Chinese sentences and simple conversations that are closely related to you and your daily life. You can express the most basic needs and help and can respond to the greetings of others. *After completing this Mandarin Chinese course you can prepare for the HSK Level 1 exam and the HSKK Elementary test.

• Level 3

  You will be able to utilise up to 400 Chinese words. You will have improved your Chinese pronunciation and accuracy of speech, and worked on your fluency. You will be able to grasp greetings in different scenarios and be able to give simple instructions and requirements, and express needs. You can conduct very basic Chinese conversations and will begin to understand the communicative etiquette and customs of Chinese culture.

• Level 4

  You can use up to 600 Chinese words in your vocabulary and be proficient using the key words and phrases. You will have started to cultivate an authentic Chinese pronunciation and will try to overcome the “foreign tone”. Now you can excel communicating on familiar and routine topics in daily life, asking questions and giving clear answers. You can grasp basic Chinese sentence structures and form them. *After completing this Mandarin Chinese course you can prepare for the HSK2 and HSKK primary exams.

• Level 5

  You can use up to 850 Chinese terms in your vocabulary. You can participate in simple Chinese conversations in daily life. You are able to add emphasis, pause, intonation, body language to compliment your Chinese speaking skills and strengthen your tone. You can use Chinese characters to make simple written communication on familiar topics and general situations. From this point you will not need to rely on Chinese Pinyin but be able to recognize basic Chinese characters.

You can organise simple paragraphs to describe personal life, study or work. *After completing this phase of the course you can prepare for the HSK Level 3 exam.

• Level 7

  At this stage your Chinese vocabulary will increase to 1400 Chinese words and you will be able to grasp and apply 70 Chinese grammar points. You can generally understand discussions during ordinary situations and contexts, and can converse easily on a broad range of topics. You will have gained a certain level of coherence, consistency and accuracy to your Chinese speaking and writing. You will cultivate the ability to understand more and more Chinese characters through the accumulation of more Chinese culture and knowledge.

• Level 8

  At this stage your Chinese vocabulary will increase to 1400 Chinese words and you will be able to grasp and apply 70 Chinese grammar points. You will have gained a certain level of coherence, consistency and accuracy to your Chinese speaking and writing.
