📚About the Program

Non-degree in Intensive Chinese Language Program at South China Normal University (SCNU)

Overview:

Intensive Chinese Program is a carefully orchestrated course provided by the College of International Culture (CIC), South China Normal University. Based on highly-intensive training, various extracurricular activities, pure Chinese environment, the course aims to help students make breakthrough progress in Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing in the short term. HSK 3 will be reached in one semester and HSK 6 will be reached in two semesters.

One-semester's time, two or three semester's progress

Target Group:

Students who want to improve their Chinese proficiency in the short run.

Teaching Features:

Small class size (about 15 students per class); Combination of classroom teaching and extracurricular activities; Exchange with Chinese students; Speech Competition; Chinese Corner and so on.

Course Hours

There are 18-20 weeks in one semester with 30 class periods per week.

Timetable:

Morning: 8:40 - 12:00 (Monday - Friday)

Afternoon: 14:30 - 16:00 (Monday - Friday)

Drill lessons: Twice a week

Certificate and Credits:

Upon successful completion, a certificate will be issued by CIC, SCNU.

Tuition Fees:

RMB 16,000 yuan/semester

🏫About South China Normal University (SCNU)

Overview:

Built in 1933, South China Normal University is a comprehensive university created by the Ministry of Education and Guangdong Province. As a 211 project key university, SCNU locates in Guangzhou and has three campuses, Shipai campus, Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center campus, and Nanhai campus. SCNU is one of the first few high universities which are able to admit foreign students, the recipient of Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship, and one of the first "Chinese Cultural Propagation and Inheritance Bases" assigned by Guangdong Government.

SCNU now has 30 faculties, including 87 undergraduate majors, more than 200 master programs and over 100 doctoral programs. There are altogether 12 categories, including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, agriculture, art, and medical science. Psychology, the science of sports and education rank top 10 in the whole nation. Chemistry, the study of plants and animals, engineering and maths is among the top 1% in ESI global ranking.

SCNU welcomes schools overseas and is very active in international communication. The university has a nearly 30-year history in international Chinese language teaching. Furthermore, it cooperated with more than 130 universities and institutions overseas. For example, the university built three Confucius Institutes with Coquitlam in Canada, Universite de la Reunion in France, and the University of Latvia.

In the future, SCNU will base itself in Guangdong and open to South East China and even the world. We will devote ourselves to teacher education, and turn SCNU into a top comprehensive normal university in the world.

About Guangzhou

South China Normal University is located in the City of Guangzhou. Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong Province, is an international metropolis in South China. The sub-tropical climate brings no cold winters or hot summers to Guangzhou and makes it a livable garden city. Besides, Guangzhou is also a model city of national environment protection and listed as a National Health City. Guangzhou is an important transportation hub of China, with its convenient air transportation, road traffic, and sea travel. You can take buses, subways, trains or planes and reach wherever you want. Cantonese food is one of the Chinese four cuisines. It is known for its unique dishes and good tastes. Abundant entertainment and leisure facilities are available in Guangzhou.

About School of International Culture (SIC)

School of International Culture was set up in January, 2004. After 10 years of construction, it has become a good and large-scale Chinese language teaching and research institution with distinctive teaching characteristics and wide influence home and abroad. Now the school has Chinese language and culture programs, a center of Chinese language education courses, a research center of Chinese international teaching, 6 research sections and 3 master programs. There are more than 60 teachers and staffs in the school, among which includes 6 professors (2 of them PhD supervisors), 14 associate professors, and 17 teachers with doctoral degrees. The school is not only one of the first "Chinese Cultural Propagation and Inheritance Base" assigned by Guangdong Government Overseas Affairs Office and Guangdong Education Department, but also the main base of the South China Normal University's Research Center of Lingnan Culture. Besides, SIC also has two school-level innovative programs, the Research Center of Internationalized education and Research Center of Chinese Language Learning and International Propagation, and 4 college-level program. SIC has built up a professional and dedicated group of teaching faculties with reasonable structure, strong teaching and research abilities who already makes remarkable teaching and research progress.

Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to China Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
