Launched in March 2019, Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS) is Tsinghua University's sole campus outside Beijing, blending academic excellence with Shenzhen's dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. Located in China’s "Silicon Valley," Shenzhen offers access to technological, industrial, and green ecosystems, including collaborations with local companies. Dedicated to tackling global challenges, Tsinghua SIGS emphasizes interdisciplinary research, practical training, and industry partnerships. With world-class facilities and a lush, garden-like campus, students engage in problem-solving and cutting-edge collaboration to make a real-world impact.

The Environmental Science and Engineering discipline at Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School addresses the critical needs of global climate change response. Our research focuses on key areas such as carbon neutrality and climate change, urban environments and complex ecosystems, and coordinated protection across multiple environmental media. By breaking traditional boundaries, we conduct foundational research, tackle technological challenges, and provide decision-making support across various scales and environmental media. In recent years, our researchers have published their work in numerous high-impact papers in prestigious journals such as Nature and Science, positioning us at the forefront of the field. Additionally, our research projects have been successfully applied in the Greater Bay Area and the South China Sea.

Highlights
We emphasize international collaboration, with a diverse faculty that includes overseas experts. We have also established strong partnerships with leading universities and research institutions, such as Kyoto University and Kanazawa University in Japan, Leibniz University Hannover in Germany, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in the United States, and the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.

Our graduate curriculum has been restructured to offer a series of research-oriented, practical, and design-focused courses. These courses are organized in modules and groups, enhancing students’ practical and research capabilities.
