Guangzhou Medical University (GMU),formerly known as Guangzhou Medical College, founded in 1958,is a medical institution which offers a full range of programmes at undergraduate and graduate levels. GMU has two main campuses. The Yuexiu campus is located in the downtown centre of Guangzhou City, near Liuhua Lake Park and Yuexiu Mountain. The Panyu Campus, is a new 247 acre campus, situated in Panyu District of Guangzhou City near Pearl River, an ideal place for learning and research.

Overview:

Guangzhou Medical University (GMU) was one of the 45 medical schools which were qualified by MOE to recruit international MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) students in the English medium in 2010. Now the university has enrolled over 250 international students from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Tanzania, Bangladesh,Chana, and America, etc. The university has passed the assessment on the MBBS program hosted by MOE of China and has been authorized to admit international students under Chinese government scholarship in 2013.

This program aims at training international medical elites with a solid foundation of medical knowledge, superb clinical skills, and good professional qualities according to the Provisional Regulations stipulated by the Ministry of Education on quality control standards for the undergraduate medical education (in English medium) of international students in China and the international standards for medical education. The program also pays attention to some special requirements of certain countries where the majority of the students are from.

Course Duration:

As per criteria established by MOE, China, course duration for MBBS in English medium is 6 years which includes one year internship in the affiliated hospitals of GMU.

Internship and Careers:

  • The internship starts in the last year with a duration of 48 weeks. Students need to do an internship in the affiliated hospitals of Guangzhou Medical University.
  • Before the internship, students need to reach HSK 3. The internship will be taken in the 8 affiliated hospitals of GMU with a total of more than 52,92 beds.
  • During the internship, students can still live in the dormitory.

Fee Structure:

  • Tuition Fee: RMB 30,000/annum

The clinical medicine discipline of GMU is ranked top 1% in the world for ESI rankings (Essential Science Indicators).GMU boasts 1 state key discipline and 9 state key clinical specialties and numerous provincial disciplines and specialties. Among them, respiratory medicine ranks 1st and ranks 6th for thoracic surgery in China. GMU places great emphasis on attracting talented faculty from home and abroad to develop the University. GMU has a strong faculty led by Prof. Zhong Nanshan, a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering. The faculty is comprised of 115 supervisors for PhD candidates, 1044 supervisors for master students.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to China Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
