In order to promote mutual understanding, cooperation, and exchanges in various fields between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers, and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities.

What the Scholarship Includes

Bilateral Program includes a full or partial scholarship established by MOE. The Full Scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. While partial scholarship includes one or some of the items of the full scholarship.

A full scholarship recipient will be awarded RMB 59200 - RMB 99800, depending on the category.

Who is the scholarship for?

The Bilateral Program supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars, and senior scholars. Please consult the dispatching authorities of your home country for the categories available

All candidates are expected to meet the following requirements:

1. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and be in good health.

2. The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:

be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for the undergraduate programs;

be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs;

be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs;

be under the age of 45 and have a high school diploma (or higher) when applying for the general scholar programs;

be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for the senior scholar programs.

Which Program(s) It Covers

The scholarship covers both major study and the Chinese language (preparatory study), such as science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, legal studies, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts for scholarship recipients at all levels. 🏫 About China Scholarship Council

The China Scholarship Council was established in 1996 and is a non-profit corporate institution directly under the Ministry of Education.

China Scholarship Council, entrusted by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, is responsible for the enrollment and the administration of Chinese Government Scholarship programs.

Now, 289 designated Chinese universities offer a wide variety of academic programs in science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, legal studies, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts for scholarship recipients at all levels.

Entry Requirements

The minimum age is 18 and the maximum age is 45.

Min Chinese Level (HSK): None

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
- Having an English certificate (You can take the English test online here) such as IELTS level 6 or TOEFL is an advantage. You can take the English test online here

Minimum education level: High School.

📬 Admissions Process

1) Register at the China Scholarship Council website.

2) Fill out all the application documents correctly (any mistakes can cause your application to be rejected).

3) Find an agency to sponsor your application.

4) Apply and receive the acceptance letter from the University (failing to do this can result in you being assigned to a University by the scholarship committee).
