What the Scholarship Includes
The EU Program provides a full scholarship of tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. The Full Scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. While partial scholarship includes one or some of the items of the full scholarship.
A full scholarship recipient will be awarded RMB 59200 - RMB 99800, depending on the category.
Who is the scholarship for?
This program supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars, and senior scholars from EU member countries.
All candidates are expected to meet the following requirements:
1. Applicants must be a citizen of an EU member country and be in good health.
2. The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:
be a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for the undergraduate programs;
be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of35 when applying for the master’s programs;
be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs;
be under the age of 45 and have a high school diploma (or higher) when applying for the general scholar programs;
be a master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for the senior scholar programs.
Which Program(s) It Covers
The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory study), as specified in the Admission Letter. More info about the programs here.
The China Scholarship Council was established in 1996 and is a non-profit corporate institution directly under the Ministry of Education.
China Scholarship Council, entrusted by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, is responsible for the enrollment and the administration of Chinese Government Scholarship programs.
Now, 289 designated Chinese universities offer a wide variety of academic programs in science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, legal studies, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts for scholarship recipients at all levels.
The minimum age is 18 and the maximum age is 50.
Min Chinese Level (HSK): None
English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
- Having an English certificate (You can take the English test online

Minimum education level: High School.
Step 1 - Apply to the EU office for CGS opportunity.
Step 2 - Apply to your target university for the Pre-admission Letter once recommended by the dispatching authorities as an eligible candidate (you will receive an Award Letter for CGS Candidate).
Step 3 - Complete the online application procedure at CGS Information Management System for International Students (Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org and click “Application Online” to log in), submit online the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, and print a hard copy. Please consult the EU office for Instructions of CGS Information Management System for International Students and Agency Number.
Step 4 - Submit all your application documents to the EU office before the deadline.
NOTE
Only applications of recommended candidates from the EU office will be considered. Candidates holding the Pre-admission Letter will be placed in the host university; those without the Pre-admission Letter should accept CSC’s placement of university.
