About School of International Education
The School of International Education is dedicated to providing admissions and administrative services to international students at Chongqing University, including reception, application, registration, visa, management and logistical support. We also organize extracurricular activities, cultural excursions, and social events to help international students develop a better understanding of China from different perspectives.
Meanwhile, the School of International Education is committed to the teaching and research of Chinese language and culture, offering courses about Chinese language, Chinese culture, Chinese history, and Chinese politics for international students with different levels.
The School is responsible for the administration of three Confucius Institutes in Thailand, Italy and Australia, in collaboration with Betong City government, Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, and La Trobe University respectively, which facilitates the international promotion of Chinese language and culture.
With well-equipped facilities, the school is authorized as the test center for Chinese Language Proficiency Test (HSK& HSKK), Youth Chinese Test (YCT), and Business Chinese Test (BCT). The school is also an authorized test center and training center for International Chinese Language Teacher Certificate.
About Chongqing
Chongqing, A.K.A Yu for short, is located along the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in Southwest China. As China’s fourth municipality directly under the administration of the Central Government and the only one in Western China, it is newly established as one of five central cities in China.
The average annual temperature in Chongqing is 18℃. January is the coldest month, at an average of 7℃; July and August is the hot season, normally between 27℃-38℃. Chongqing is a humid city. Summer and autumn are the rainy seasons. The annual rainfall is 1,000-1,100mm.
Chongqing is a logistics hub combining water, road and air transportations, a modern manufacturing base, an important business center and the pivot for integrated transportation and communications along the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and in southwest China. It has established business and trade relations with more than 180 countries and regions. Modern farming is now growing with strong momentum, as are a wide range of fast developing industries, including automobile, motorcycle, equipment, gas/petroleum chemical engineering and materials.
Chongqing is a well-known tourism city for its fantastic mountain-river scenery and abundant historic and cultural sites, such as Three Gorges of Yangtze River, the Dazu Rock Carvings, the Three Natural Bridges in Wulong, Tiankeng and Difeng (giant karst pits and fissures) in Fengjie, the Baiheliang Ridge in Fuling, the Hechuan Fishing Town Relics and the World Hot Spring Capital.
Chongqing is famous for its delicious Sichuan style cuisine and hotpot.
Campus
CQU is located in Shapingba District, a cultural and educational center in the city of Chongqing, a major municipality of industry and commerce in the Southwest of China, an economic center on the upper reaches of Yangtze River.
The university covers a total area of 5,450 mu (about 364 hectares), with 1.5 million square meters of floor space in four lively campuses. The university library is well equipped with modern facilities of large scale, with a collection of 4.3 million volumes, 6500 kinds of Chinese and foreign periodicals, and 2.82 million volumes of E-books. In addition to 5 electronic reading rooms with 90000 kinds of Chinese and foreign e-books and journals, the China Education Research Network (CERNET) Chongqing Central Node is set up in the library.

Extracurricular Activities
The International Students Office organizes various cultural and sporting activities for international students under the direction of the SIE. Among these activities, some are held regularly:

The SIE also encourages international students to take part in all kinds of activities held by the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Chongqing Municipal Government and other colleges and universities in China (e.g. Experience China, the Photography Competition for Foreigners in Chongqing, the Recitation Contest hosted by South China University of Technology). International students’ host colleges also organize extracurricular activities. International Students may learn about ongoing and upcoming activities by observing the notices displayed on the notice boards or sent to your email box.
On Campus Facilities
Students may dine at canteens and dining halls on campus. There are 6 canteens on campus A. Other facilities that are available on campus include the University hospital, post office, convenience stores, banks, bookstores, laundry, photo development shops, gyms and a theater.
