Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU), founded in 1960, is a municipal public university that boasts strengths in engineering and well-coordinated development of disciplines in management, economics, literature, science and arts. The main campus is located at Jinhai Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai. The university is committed to training applied innovative talents who are professional, responsible and international. SSPU has 16 colleges and schools, including School of Intelligent Manufacturing and Control Engineering, School of Computer and Information Engineering, School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, School of Energy and Materials, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Economics and Management, School of Applied Arts and Design, School of International Exchange, College of International Vocational Education, Shanghai Model Worker College, Shanghai Vocational & Technical Teacher Education School, School of Continuing Education, Department of Physical Education, School of Marxism, Engineering Training Center, and Art Education Center. SSPU offers 6 professional master’s degree programs in the fields of Electronic Information, International Business, Translation and Interpreting, Materials and Chemical Engineering, Resources & Environment and Arts, 45 bachelor’s degree programs and 20 higher vocational programs. It has 13,442 full-time students (including 10, 681 undergraduates, 2, 125 higher vocational students, 47 preparatory students, 480 postgraduates and 109 international students) and 6,859 part-time students. It now has 1,129 faculty and staff, of whom 838 are faculty members, 346 are professors and associate professors, and 342 have doctoral degrees. In the past three years, the students have participated in 213 competitions of various kinds at provincial and ministerial levels and above, and won 739 awards in total including 325 national awards. On average, over 1,500 students per year participated in college student innovation projects in the university and in Shanghai. In the1st Vocational Skills Competition of the People’s Republic of China in 2020, 2 SSPU students won a gold medal and a bronze medal respectively. SSPU has some provincial and ministerial bases and platforms, such as Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Advanced Thermal Functional Materials, Shanghai Collaborative Innovation Center for WEEE Recycling, Shanghai Collaborative Innovation Center for Reverse Logistics and Supply Chain, China Bicycle Intelligent Manufacturing Demonstration Base and China Bicycle Intelligent Manufacturing R&D Center. SSPU has jointly established Shanghai Key Laboratory for Application and Evaluation of Engineering Materials with Shanghai Research Institute of Materials (SRIM) and co-built SSPU Lab Affiliated to Key Labs under Ministry of Industry and Information Technology with State Radio Monitoring Center Testing Center (SRTC). SSPU Science Park was approved as a national university science park. Shanghai Polytechnic University has established partnerships with over 150 universities and institutions from 36 countries and regions, keeping close cooperation in Sino-foreign cooperation education, teacher exchange, student mobility, research, joint laboratories, etc. It is a member of Sino-Finnish Alliance of Universities of Applied Science. SSPU has jointly set up a Sino-foreign cooperation institution—Queensland College with TAFE Queensland, Australia, and 2 Sino-foreign cooperation programs with Broward College, the U.S. The university has also established Monita College, cooperating with Monita International Group, Hong Kong China.
