I. Academic Highlights
• The School of Mechanical and Power Engineering at East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) is a nationally recognized leader in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, advanced mechanical equipment design, and reliability engineering. The university hosts several key research platforms and is staffed by a distinguished faculty team in intelligent manufacturing and related disciplines. The program boasts over 30 full-time faculty members, 100% of whom hold doctoral degrees and senior professional titles (Professor/Associate Professor). More than 10 high-level overseas talents have been introduced through national and municipal high-level talent recruitment programs.
The program is supported by state-of-the-art research facilities and platforms, including:

• The Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering program is characterized by its interdisciplinary integration of next-generation information technology, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing. It addresses pressing national strategic needs and industrial upgrading through digital and intelligent transformation. Key research strengths and features include smart processing/forming, digital twin, intelligent operation and maintenance of high-end equipment, mechanical health monitoring, intelligent sensors and IoT, smart materials and functional devices, agile manufacturing, additive manufacturing (3D printing), big data and AI applications, and smart pressure equipment.
II.Educational Objectives
• The objective of the Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering program is aiming to cultivate well-rounded, innovative, and interdisciplinary professionals with a solid theoretical foundation and strong practical skills. Students will develop the ability to analyze, design, and develop intelligent manufacturing systems, and gain expertise in some cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins, intelligent sensing, additive manufacturing, industrial big data, and AI-driven manufacturing. Graduates will be prepared for international careers in research institutes, multinational corporations, and industrial enterprises, contributing to smart manufacturing innovation and technological advancement worldwide.
Upon graduation, students will be able to:
- Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences, engineering fundamentals, and intelligent manufacturing to identify, analyze, and solve complex engineering problems in smart product design, intelligent equipment, and integrated manufacturing systems.
- Design and develop solutions for intelligent manufacturing systems and processes that meet specified requirements with consideration for public health, safety, cultural, societal, environmental, sustainability, and ethical constraints.
- Utilize modern engineering tools, information technology, and data analysis methods to model, simulate, and optimize intelligent manufacturing systems, and understand their limitations.
- Function effectively on multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with professionals and the public in a global context, demonstrating awareness of international practices and cultural diversity.
- Engage in lifelong learning and continuous professional development to stay abreast of technological advancements and evolving challenges in intelligent manufacturing and related industries.

III. Eligibility Check:
- • 1.International students who hold foreign passports;
- • 2.Completed high school with a high school diploma or higher academic qualifications;
- • 3.No criminal records and in good physical and mental health;
- • 4.Aged 16 or above, for applicants who are under 18 need to provide a a letter of guarantee from a legally recognized adult guardian residing in China.
IV. Language Requirements:
- • 1.Proof of English - IELTS ≥6.0/ TOEFL ≥80 or other equivalent is needed for English-taught programmes.
- • 2. Applicants who have no language scores need to take additional language courses.
- • 3. Applicants who do not have language scores may submit their applications provisionally and must provide proof of English proficiency to receive the Final Admission Offer.
V. Academic Requirements:
Applicants are expected to meet at least one of the following academic standards:
1. High School Diploma: An average score of 70/100 or a GPA of 2.0/4.0;
2. A-level: A minimum grade of BBC;
3. IB Diploma: A total of 30 points, including scores of 5, 5, 4 in Higher Level (HL) subjects;
4. SAT: A total score of 1100 or above;
• Equivalencies from other recognized international qualification frameworks will also be considered.
• Note: Applicants with CSCA (China Scholastic Competency Assessment) scores will receive priority consideration, but it is no longer mandatory to provide it.
