In 1956, Hong Kong Baptist College was founded by the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong as a post-secondary college committed to the provision of whole-person education. In 1983, Hong Kong Baptist College became a fully-funded public tertiary institution. Library

The University Library is committed to providing quality resources and services in support of the University’s teaching, research, and learning activities. HKBU librarians engage in teaching and instruction, providing learning opportunities that students do not receive in their regular classes. These are crucial to student success in academia and in the workplace.

With the increasing importance of electronic information resources to the University’s teaching, learning, and research activities, the Library provides access to a comprehensive array of e-resources that are not freely available online. This is in addition to its substantial collections of physical materials. Currently, the Library provides access to:

Academic Community Hall

The Academic Community Hall has the seating capacity of 1,346. It is suitable for classical concerts, orchestras, musicals, variety shows, ceremonies, religious functions and seminars, it also served as the competition venue for the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Festival for decades.

Tsang Chan Sik Yue Auditorium

The Tsang Chan Sik Yue Auditorium has the seating capacity of 400 and 4 extra wheelchair spaces. It is designed as a multi-purpose venue suitable for conferences, seminars, ceremonies, film shows and small-to-medium scale performances.

Joint Sports Centre

The Joint Sports Centre, which was opened in May 1995, is funded by the University Grants Committee. It is jointly owned and managed by the three universities: the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The Centre provides various kinds of outdoor sports facilities for use by students, staff and immediate family members and alumni. The sports facilities are used for training, competition and recreational activities.

The Joint Sports Centre is located at 36 Renfrew Road Kowloon Tong, next to the Shaw Campus of the Hong Kong Baptist University. It takes about a 10-minute to walk from the Kowloon Tong or Lok Fu MTR station to the Centre. You can also reach the Centre by public mini-bus No. 25M / No.25MS from the Kowloon Tong MTR station or other public buses (103, 208, 2B, 2F, 3C, 7).

Student Accommodation

Student residence forms an integral part in realizing the University's vision of whole-person education of students. Under the supervision of the Office of Student Affairs, the Student Accommodation Section endeavours to provide safe, supportive and stimulating residential communities that embrace diversity, and encourage participation, learning and independence of students. Upon completion of hall residence, students are expected to reflect the importance of citizenship in communities, reach the appropriate level of self-discipline, and understand life aspirations and career goals.

Catering Services

The University does not operate any meal plan, mandatory or optional. Students can dine where they want, on or off-campus.  There are several eateries on campus. Cost per meal in the student cafeteria ranges from HK$25 to HK$45.

East-West Encounters, Global Café and Outings

The International Office’s East-West Encounters programme organizes the bi-weekly Global Café, Outings and numerous other activities for international full-time and exchange students throughout the semesters.  You may also decide to become a Student Ambassador for East-West Encounters, which will give you a chance to be part of the organizing committee with other HKBU students for these activities and outings.

🏠 Accommodation

To help students immerse themselves in University life, HKBU offers a range of student accommodations including Undergraduate Halls, Dr. Ng Tor Tai International House, and Off-campus Student Residence. They offer shared 2-person rooms in a 4-person unit, shared 2-person rooms in a 5-person unit, and shared 3-person room in a 5-person unit.

According to the present University Housing Policy, UGC-funded full-time non-local undergraduate students will be provided with on-campus hostel places in the 1st year of their studies. In their 2nd year of studies, students can apply for on-campus or off-campus accommodation, subject to availability. No University accommodation (on-campus or off-campus) will be provided starting from their 3rd year of studies.

You are not eligible to apply to this program because:

The minimum age is 18 and the maximum age is 65.

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:
- A native English speaker
- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
- Having an English certificate such as IELTS level 6 or TOEFL 95 and above is an advantage.

Minimum education level: High School.

Application process:

Applying Online is simple in just a few steps. More information is available here.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to China Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
