Founded in 1912, Shanghai Ocean University is a multi-disciplinary and applied research university. SHOU was jointly built by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the State Oceanic Administration and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

In 2017, SHOU was chosen as a “world-class discipline building university”. The university mainly focuses on the development of disciplines such as agriculture, science, engineering, economics, arts, and management.

Overview:

The Chinese Language Programs are for International students who want to learn Chinese language and Chinese culture, there are experienced Professors who proficient in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, by in-class teaching, group interaction, seminars and a variety of modern teaching methods, they are aiming at providing a high level, high standard and high-quality curriculum of the Chinese language courses for international students. At the same time, we also offer rich and colorful teaching practice, social culture experience activities, and one-to-one tutoring. In order to help International students to master Chinese and further acknowledge Chinese society and culture, the College has prepared various language practice activities, cultural entertainment activities and social investigation activities for International students, helping them understand China better and faster.

Durations:

• The Chinese Language Program has a 1-semester and 2-semester durations. 

Tuition Fee:

• RMB 8800 per semester; RMB 17600 for 2 semesters.

Cultural Lectures: Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, Chinese Tea Art, Chinese Knot Tying, and Chinese Kong-Fu, etc

Cultural Workshops: Chinese Paper Cutting, Making Moon cakes, Drawing Chinese Fans, Making Dumplings, Making Rice Dumplings, etc.

City Tour: Visit historical and cultural destinations on school-sponsored outings.

Language Excursions: Each semester, several language excursions expose students to distinctive natural ad cultural locations such as Chinese Corner and the International Culture Festival. Students also visit famous historical places in and outside of Shanghai.

Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) is a public university located in Shanghai, China. It was formerly known as Shanghai Fisheries University. The university got its current name on May 6, 2008, as authorized by the Ministry of Education The People's Republic of China. SHOU was moved Lingang New City. 

SOU is a Double First-Class Discipline University with Double First-Class status in specific disciplines. The university has nine colleges namely: Fishery, Oceanology, Food Science, Economics and Trade, Information, Humanities, Further Education, Vocational and Technical Education, AIEN (Sino-Australian Cooperated).

Shanghai Ocean University has over 10,000 regular students and 3,700 postgraduate students.
