What the Scholarship Includes
The NPU Outstanding Visiting Scholarship offers a full scholarship that covers full tuition fees, insurance, accommodation fee, and a monthly stipend. The monthly stipend for Master's program students costs RMB 2000 / month and RMB 3500 / month for Ph.D. students.
Who is the scholarship for?
The Outstanding Visiting Scholarship is a full scholarship offered by Northwestern Polytechnical University for outstanding visiting students that will pursue their Master's and Ph.D. degree for at least 3 months.
All candidates are expected to meet the following requirements:
1.Applicants should comply with Chinese laws and regulations, respect Chinese customs and habits and abide by the regulations and disciplines of the NPU.
2.Applicants should be master or doctoral students who are invited to study or do internships at NPU for at least three months.
3.The applicants should meet one of the following conditions and the decision is made under the preferential principle:
1.1 The applicant’s university should be in the top 200 universities of the global rankings. (in one of the following ranking list)
the Times Higher Education World University Ranking;
the U.S.News & World Report-Global University Rankings;
the QS World University Rankings;
the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Academic Ranking of World Universities);
the Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking.
1.2 The discipline that the applicant is studying should be on the world's top 100 leading discipline list. (in one of the following ranking list)
the Times Higher Education Academic Disciplines Ranking;
the U.S.News & World Report-Academic Disciplines Ranking;
the QS World University Rankings by Subject;
the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global Ranking of Academic Disciplines;
the Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Disciplines.
1.3 Applicants should be foreign students who are recommended by the school's honorary professorship (honorary professor, consultant professor, lecture professor, special researcher, etc.);
1.4 Applicants are from NPU partner universities that have signed an agreement with any schools of NPU.

🏫 About Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU)
The Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) is a national key university found in the historic city of Xi'an – the cradle of Chinese civilization. It is the only multidisciplinary and research-oriented university in China that also focuses on developing research-based education programs in various fields such as aeronautics and marine engineering.
NPU works under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is a top-tier university with a Ministry of Education Class A, Double First Class University distinction.
NPU is one of the best universities in the People's Republic of China (PRC). The university has a historical legacy unlike no other. In 1960, NPU was legally approved as a key state university under the State Council. The university ranked in the top 15 of China's 7th and 8th five-year plans. It is also one of the few universities to pioneer a graduate school.

Location
The Northwestern Polytechnical University is located in the northwest province of Xi'an, Shaanxi Sheng, China. Xi'an is one of the four great ancient capitals of China. The place is made famous by the Terracotta Army of the Qin Dynasty, which is one of the great wonders of the world.

Campus Life
NPU provides a vibrant and fun learning environment for students. You can choose from a wide array of activities, depending on your interest.
Arts
If you're an artist by heart, NPU has a newly opened Arts Center that will give you guidance to hone your artistic talents even more. The Arts Education Center has a full-time faculty that will assist you throughout your practice. NPU also invites acclaimed artists as part-time instructors.
Today, NPU's Arts Center has 16 courses. You can join in any of the activities such as the Dance Troupe, Vocal Music Performance Team, the Orchestra team and more. The center also hosts parties and regular performances every year.
Sports
Interested in joining sports? NPU has 5 professional sports teams available for you to join in. You can choose from the Track and Field, Men's Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Table Tennis and Badminton.
NPU is well known for its Men's basketball team which is a strong contender in the University and College games in Shaanxi Province. In fact, it has won 16 championships since 1990. Besides this, the Men's basketball team is also a top contingent in the CUBA games.
Setting aside professional athletics, you can join sports meets and activities if you just want to enjoy with university friends. NPU is fully equipped with many gymnasiums, training centers, track fields and more.
Activities
In addition to sports and art programs, NPU offers recreational and cultural activities, and exchange and volunteer programs. If you want to find new friends and like-minded people, NPU has 100 registered clubs where you can enjoy your hobbies and relax during your free time.
International Students at NPU
If you're an international student, you can call the Northwestern Polytechnical University your second home. With an autonomous organization called NPU ISA (International Students Association), NPU ensures that you get the best of your stay in the university.
NPU-ISA gives you support to adjust to your new life in China. The organization will help you meet new people and friends and break cultural boundaries.

English fluency is required.
You need to be either:

- Studied a degree in English before
- Can demonstrate a high level of English
