📚About the Program

Overview of Long-term Non-degree Chinese Language and Culture Program:

Each semester,  the International College organizes language-teaching classes at elementary,  intermediate and advanced levels. Students are to be placed in classes that suit them best by taking a proficiency test. A class is usually composed of 15-20  students. The spring semester usually starts from late February and the autumn semester from early or middle September. A semester usually consists of 18 weeks with 20 class hours of language courses per week. Electives are offered for students to choose from one to three courses according to the students’ interests and Chinese capacity. Field trips are arranged once or twice each semester.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be between the age of 18 and 65, in good physical and mental conditions, and have graduated from high school.

Start Date of the Program

September (autumn semester) or February (spring semester)

Application Deadline:

Up to June 10, 2020 (for autumn semester) or January 10th (for spring semester)

Study Options:

Prospective students can choose between 1-semester or 1-year Chinese Language and Culture programs. Kindly message us for the duration you will choose.

Autumn Semester Duration: 

From September 2020 to January 2021. Exact dates to be determined and informed on the admission notice.

Enrollment 

After receiving and examining the application materials, Zhejiang University will send the Admission Notice, JW202 form and other relevant documents to the applicants before July 20th, 2020.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees are RMB 9000 per semester. The total for the 1-year program is 18,000 RMB.

About International College

The International College of Zhejiang University is a special teaching and administrative institute responsible for the enrollment, service and Chinese as Second Language (CSL) program, consisting of Office of General Affairs, Office of International Promotion of Chinese Language, Office of Degree Student Affairs, Office of CSL program, and Foreign Experts and Overseas Students Service Center, whose head office is located in Yuquan Campus with two other administrative offices located in Zijianggang Campus and Huajiachi Campus respectively.

The university had its first enrollment of international students in 1979 and since then, more than 25,000 international students have come to study in the school.

About Hangzhou

Zhejiang University is located in the historical and picturesque city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang, a beautiful and prosperous province in southeastern China with rich cultural heritage as well as fine traditional products such as silk and tea. Honored as “the most beautiful and magnificent city in the world” by the Italian traveler Marco Polo, Hangzhou was the capital of China in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279). As a tourist resort with world fame, it now boasts many scenic spots and historic sites such as West Lake, Soul-Conceal Buddhist Temple, Six-Harmony Pagoda and the primitive Liangzhu Relics as well as four national museums of silk, tea, traditional Chinese medicine and pottery respectively. Hangzhou enjoys a mild climate throughout the year with four distinct seasons of special beauty. Hangzhou is only two hours from Shanghai by train or by bus. Many cities like Beijing, Xi’an, Guilin, Kunming and Hongkong are all within easy reach by train or airplane.

Campus

Yuquan Campus

Yuquan Campus is located in the northwestern corner of the West Lake, and next to the Plant Park. The total area is over 1,700 mu. There are buildings with areas of 700,000 square meters, where administration offices are located. Currently, administration offices of the following 3 Faculties 21 school (department) are located in this campus: Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Information, College of Electrical Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Energy Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, College of Information Science and Engineering, College of Biomedical Engineering and Instrumental Science, Department of Chemical Engineering & Biochemical Engineering, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, College of Computer Science and Technology, College of Economics, and College of Public Administration, and etc.

Xixi Campus

The Xixi Campus is located in the Hangzhou High Technology Development Zone, northwest of Hangzhou City. The campus occupies a field of 46 hectares, and there are buildings with areas of total 370,000 square meters. Xixi is the former Hangzhou University. Currently in this campus, there are administration offices of three colleges, that is, College of Humanities, College of Education, and College of Media International Culture, Teaching and Research Institute of Political Theory. In addition, there are one national leading academic discipline. There are also a computing center, a central laboratory, a multimedia center, and a library holding 1,650,000 copies of books and 11,570 types of Chinese-English magazines.

Huajiachi Campus

The Huajiachi Campus is located in the east side of Hangzhou City. The campus occupies a field of 99 hectares, and there are buildings with areas of 280,000 square meters. Huajiaci is the former Zhejiang Agricultural University. In this campus, there are three national leading academic disciplines, and one national basic research and teaching personnel training base. Additionally, there are a multimedia center, a computing center, a computer network center, and a library holding 800,000 copies of books.

Zhijiang Campus

The Zhijiang Campus is located in the south of Hangzhou City, and near the Qiantangjiang River. At present, School of Guanghua Law is located at the Campus.

Zijingang Campus

The Zijingang Campus is located at the north-west of the city and just 5 km away from the Yuquan Campus, Zijingang Campus is the main campus of Zhejiang University, where administration offices of the following 3 Faculties 7 school (department) are located in this campus: Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, School of Interrnational Studies, College of Life Sciences, School of Basic Medicine Sciences, School of Public Health, College of Pharmaceutical Science, School of Management. Zijingang Campus has now buildings of 600,000 square meter floor space, accommodating the University’s 13,000 first- and second-year students.

Living in University

Activities

Zhejiang University advocates international campus atmosphere, encourages communication and integrity between Chinese students and international students. International students of our university can participate in various culture, sport and association activities according to their interests. Every year, university holds various large campus activities, e.g., Student Festival, Sino – foreign Music Festival, International Culture Festival, etc. International students are encouraged to proactively participate in these activities. International College will also support and encourage communication between international students from different countries.

On-Campus Dining

There are three international Student dining halls respectively located in the International College Building on Yuquan Campus, Overseas Student Dormitory Building at the main gate of Yuquan Campus and Overseas Student Dormitory Building on Hua-jia-chi Campus. Meals are served in a a la carte manner.

Students can also have your meals in the student cafeterias on different campuses. It is estimated daily expenses for decent meals will be from 15 RMB yuan to 40 RMB yuan.

🏠 Accommodation

Zhejiang University possesses different types of International Student Dormitories with different conditions and specifications. The accommodation standard for international undergraduates is double room or quadruple room. During the period of schooling, university may adjust students’ accommodated campus according to accommodation resources.

The first steps are to choose the programs, pay the application fee and upload the application documents.

Once submitted to China Admissions, we will review your application within 2-3 days and proceed to the university or ask you for further clarification

After it has been processed to the university you will receive your unique application ID from each university.

The university may contact you directly for further questions.

We will then follow up each week with the university for updates. As soon as there is any update we will let you know. If you have made other plans, decide to withdraw / change address at any time please let us know.

After you have been accepted you will receive your admissions letter electronically and asked to pay the non-refundable deposit to the university.

Once you have paid the deposit the university will issue you the admissions letter and visa form to your home country.
